Alex Edmans is Professor of Finance at London Business School. He is an expert in corporate governance, executive compensation, corporate social responsibility, and practical investment strategies.


Edmans has a unique combination of deep academic rigour and practical business experience. He has spoken at the World Economic Forum in Davos, testified in the UK Parliament, and given TEDx talks on The Social Responsibility of Business and From Post-Truth to Pro-Truth.


Edmans serves on the Steering Group of The Purposeful Company, which proposes policy reforms to encourage companies to pursue long-run purpose over short-run profit, on Royal London Asset Management’s Responsible Investment Advisory Committee, and as Managing Editor of the Review of Finance, the leading academic finance journal in Europe.


Edmans began his professional career at Morgan Stanley in investment banking (London) and fixed income sales and trading (New York). After a PhD in Finance from MIT Sloan as a Fulbright Scholar, he became a finance professor at Wharton, where he was granted tenure and won 14 teaching awards in six years.
