Jean Tomlin is a global business leader with 37 years’ experience working alongside CEOs and across multiple stakeholders in the private and public sectors.
Jean mobilised the UK’s largest peace-time workforce of 200,000, including the universally-acclaimed 70,000 Games Makers, for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. She went on to found Tomlin & Co and took up a range of Non-Executive Board Directorships.
Jean is currently a Non-Executive Board Director of J Sainsbury plc, Independent Board Director of Michael Kors (NYSE), Trustee Board Director of Join In (London 2012 Volunteering Legacy) and a Trustee Board Director of Step Up To Serve (HRH Prince of Wales).
As Director of Human Resources, Workforce and Accreditation for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Jean managed an exceptional team and was accountable for: Organisation Development, Recruitment and Training, HR Operations, Diversity and Inclusion, Risk Mitigation and Contingency Planning.
Earlier in her career, she worked in areas as varied as Workforce Deployment and Outplacement/Talent Marketing. She was Group HR Director at Marks & Spencer plc, a founder member and HR Director at Egg plc (the UK’s first Internet bank), Organisation Change Consultant at British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and Sales & Operations Director at Prudential Direct (Prudential Assurance Co).
Jean has also worked extensively in the Public Sector, including: Commissioner for Judicial Appointments; Board member and Chair of Remuneration Committee, Greenwich Healthcare Trust; Member, Race Relations Advisory Board; Board member, Student Loans Company; Member, National Curriculum Advisory Board.
Jean has received numerous Awards and Recognition including Order of the British Empire (OBE) for Services to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. She is an experienced public speaker on a range of topics including Leadership and Organisation Transformation.
